A tree fell on my house, what is covered?
When a tree falls and hits a home or other insured structure, such as a detached garage, shed or fence, standard homeowners insurance policies provide coverage for the damage the tree does to the structure and the contents. This coverage includes trees that have fallen due to windstorm, hail, and weight of ice, snow or sleet. The cost to remove the tree is covered up to $500 by most companies, some companies will cover up to $1,000 for tree removal.
If the tree falls and doesn't damage an insured structure, there is generally no coverage for the removal of the tree.
My neighbors tree fell on my house, are they responsible?
It does not matter whether or not a tree was actually growing on your property, if it lands on your home, you should file a claim with your insurance company. If there's proof of negligence, your neighbor knew their tree was in poor health or it wasn't property maintained, let your insurance company know and they may try to subrogate in order to get you reimbursed for your deductible.
A tree fell on my car, how is that covered?
If a tree falls and does damage to your vehicle, your car is covered under the comprehensive coverage on your automobile policy.
